The Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) Annual Convention starts Monday, October 21, 2013. Established in 1966 as a non-profit organization AFN was primarily founded to address land claims issues. Although the whole week is generally called AFN it is actually comprised of two separate events, The First Alaskans Institute Elders & Youth Conference taking place October 21^st through the 23^rd, and the actual convention taking place October 24^th through the 26^th.
