The Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) Annual Convention starts Monday, October 21, 2013. Established in 1966 as a non-profit organization AFN was primarily founded to address land claims issues. Although the whole week is generally called AFN it is actually comprised of two separate events, The First Alaskans Institute Elders & Youth Conference taking place October 21st through the 23rd, and the actual convention taking place October 24th through the 26th.

This wonderful event combines seminars, lectures and conferences with art exhibits, dancing singing and other cultural presentations.
For those of you who cannot travel to Fairbanks, AFN will be broadcasted live from the Carlson Center in Fairbanks statewide on GCI channel 1, ARCS and 360 North as well as live web streaming on-line at www.firstalaskans.org for the Elders and Youth Conference and www.nativefederation.org for the AFN Convention.
